Trust & Safety Center
JobCompanion is built on a simple principle: you are always in control. AI helps you move faster — it never acts without your knowledge or approval.
Core Principles
Every decision we make about JobCompanion's AI features is guided by four core principles:
- Transparency — you always know what AI is doing and why
- Explainability — AI decisions are shown with reasoning, not just results
- Human oversight — every AI action requires your awareness and approval
- User control — you can pause, modify, or stop any AI feature at any time
Transparency
We believe you should never wonder what JobCompanion is doing with your data or on your behalf. Our transparency commitments:
- Every AI action is logged in your Activity feed with timestamps and details
- AI-generated content is clearly labeled as AI-generated
- Job match scores show the factors that contributed to the score
- Automation events (when active) are logged with full audit trails
- We publish clear policies explaining every AI feature and its limitations
Explainability
AI outputs on JobCompanion are designed to be understandable, not black-box:
- Job match scores show which skills matched and which were missing
- Resume analysis highlights specific strengths and gaps with explanations
- Cover letter drafts are editable so you can see and change every word
- Skill gap reports explain why specific skills are recommended
- Career recommendations include reasoning based on your profile
Human Oversight
Human oversight is not optional — it is built into every AI workflow:
- AI-assisted application workflows pause for your review before any content is used
- You can edit, reject, or approve every AI-generated document
- No form is filled on a third-party website without your knowledge
- Automation (when active) requires explicit opt-in and per-job or threshold-based approval
- You can disable any AI feature at any time from your Settings page
Approval-First Workflows
Our AI-assisted application system is designed around an approval-first model:
Current Beta Workflow
- 1. You select a job and initiate an AI-assisted workflow
- 2. AI generates a cover letter and application package draft
- 3. You review every generated document in the workflow interface
- 4. You edit any content you want to change
- 5. You explicitly approve the workflow before anything proceeds
- 6. You submit the application yourself on the employer's website
Future Auto-Apply Workflow (Coming Soon)
- Requires explicit opt-in and safety configuration
- Per-job or threshold-based approval options
- Hard blocking rules prevent unsafe actions
- Full audit log of every automated action
- Emergency pause available at any time
Beta Limitations
JobCompanion is in controlled beta. This means:
- Auto-apply is NOT active — no automated submissions occur
- Some AI features may produce inconsistent results as we refine our models
- Job matching data may be limited depending on available job sources
- Features may change, be paused, or be removed during beta
- We do not guarantee service availability or data persistence during beta
User Control
You have full control over your JobCompanion experience:
- Pause or disable any AI feature from Settings
- Block specific companies from appearing in matches or automation
- Set match score thresholds for automation (when active)
- Configure daily and monthly automation limits
- Export your data at any time
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time
- View your complete activity log and audit trail
Application Modes
Manual Apply — Active Now
You find a job, click Apply, and submit the application yourself on the company website. JobCompanion tracks it in your application tracker.
AI Assist Apply — Active Now
AI drafts your cover letter and application package. You review every word, edit freely, then approve before anything is submitted. You still submit the application yourself.
Auto-Apply — Coming Soon
AI submits applications automatically based on your preferences and threshold. Requires explicit opt-in, safety configuration, and is subject to hard blocking rules. Not active in current beta.
Hard Limits — What AI Will Never Do
- Submit an application to any company without your explicit approval (current beta)
- Solve CAPTCHAs or bypass bot-detection systems
- Enter login credentials on third-party websites
- Make any payment or enter payment information on your behalf
- Accept terms of service or legal agreements for you
- Access or modify your accounts on external platforms
- Send emails or messages to recruiters without your review
- Store or share your resume data with third parties
