JobCompanion uses artificial intelligence to enhance your job search experience. This disclaimer explains how AI is used, its limitations, and what you should know before relying on AI-generated outputs.

1. Our Commitment to AI Transparency
JobCompanion believes in transparent, responsible use of artificial intelligence. AI is a powerful tool that enhances our platform's capabilities, but it is not infallible. We are committed to being clear about where AI is used, what it can and cannot do, and how it affects your experience on the Platform.
Core Principle:
AI assists decision-making but does not act independently on behalf of users. Every consequential action on JobCompanion — including submitting a job application — requires your explicit review and confirmation. AI provides suggestions; you make the decisions.
2. How AI Is Used in JobCompanion
2.1 Resume Parsing and Structured Extraction
AI language models (including OpenAI GPT-series) are used to parse your uploaded resume and extract structured information including work history, skills, education, and contact details. This extraction enables the Platform to build a machine-readable profile that powers job matching.
Limitation: AI parsing may misinterpret unconventional resume formats, non-standard date formats, or industry-specific terminology. We recommend reviewing your extracted profile after upload to ensure accuracy.
2.2 Job Matching and Relevance Scoring
AI algorithms analyze your structured profile and compare it against job listings to generate a match score and ranked list of relevant opportunities. The matching process considers skill overlap, role alignment, seniority, and your stated preferences.
Limitation: Match scores are probabilistic estimates, not definitive assessments of your suitability for a role. A high match score does not guarantee an interview or job offer. A low match score does not mean you are unqualified — it may reflect gaps in how the job description was written or how your resume was parsed.
2.3 Application Suggestions and Recommendations
The Platform may suggest jobs to apply to, highlight high-match opportunities, or recommend profile improvements based on AI analysis. These suggestions are generated algorithmically and are intended to assist your decision-making, not replace it.
Limitation: AI recommendations are based on patterns in data and may not account for factors that are important to you personally, such as company culture, team dynamics, growth opportunities, or personal career goals that are not captured in your profile.
3. Known Limitations of AI in Job Matching
Users should be aware of the following inherent limitations of AI-powered job matching:
- Keyword Dependency: AI matching is heavily influenced by the specific words and phrases used in both your resume and job descriptions. Equivalent skills described differently may not be matched correctly.
- Recency Bias: AI models may weight recent experience more heavily, potentially undervaluing older but relevant experience.
- Structural Bias: AI systems can reflect biases present in their training data. We continuously work to identify and mitigate such biases, but cannot guarantee complete neutrality.
- Context Blindness: AI cannot understand nuanced career narratives, career pivots, or the context behind employment gaps. These factors may affect match quality.
- Job Description Quality: The quality of job matching is partly dependent on how well-written and complete the job descriptions are. Vague or incomplete job postings may result in lower-quality matches.
- Dynamic Job Market: AI models are trained on historical data and may not fully reflect rapid changes in job market demand, emerging roles, or new technologies.
4. No Guarantee of Employment Outcomes
JobCompanion makes no representations or warranties regarding employment outcomes resulting from use of the Platform. Specifically:
- We do not guarantee that using the Platform will result in job interviews, job offers, or employment
- We do not guarantee that AI-matched jobs are currently available, accurately described, or suitable for your specific situation
- We do not guarantee that employers will review, respond to, or consider applications submitted through or tracked on the Platform
- Hiring decisions are made entirely by employers and are outside the control of JobCompanion
The Platform is a tool to assist your job search. Success in your job search depends on many factors beyond the Platform's capabilities, including your qualifications, the competitiveness of the job market, employer preferences, and economic conditions.
5. Human Judgment Remains Essential
We strongly encourage users to exercise independent judgment when using AI-generated outputs from JobCompanion:
- Review AI-extracted resume data for accuracy before relying on it for applications
- Evaluate job matches critically — consider factors beyond the match score
- Research employers independently before applying
- Do not rely solely on AI suggestions for career decisions of significant personal or financial importance
- Consult career advisors, mentors, or industry professionals for guidance that AI cannot provide
6. AI and Automated Decision-Making
JobCompanion uses AI to rank and filter job listings presented to you. This constitutes a form of automated decision-making that affects which opportunities you see. We want you to understand:
- AI ranking does not mean that unlisted or lower-ranked jobs are unsuitable for you
- You can browse all available jobs regardless of match score
- You can adjust your profile and preferences to influence matching results
- No automated decision made by the Platform has legal or similarly significant effects on your employment status — all consequential actions require your explicit confirmation
7. Third-Party AI Services
JobCompanion uses OpenAI's API for certain AI processing tasks. OpenAI's AI models are subject to their own terms of service, usage policies, and limitations. We are not responsible for the accuracy, reliability, or outputs of third-party AI models. We select and configure these services to minimize risk and maximize usefulness, but cannot guarantee their performance in all cases.
8. Feedback and Continuous Improvement
We actively work to improve the accuracy and fairness of our AI systems. If you notice AI outputs that appear incorrect, biased, or harmful, please report them to support@jobcompanion.app. User feedback is a critical input to our AI improvement process.
